Teaching Assistant – Primary SEMH School

Location: Bournemouth
Position: Full-Time Teaching Assistant
Start Date: January 2024 (or earlier if available)
Salary: £85-100 per day

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young learners? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at our Primary SEMH school in Bournemouth. Our school is committed to providing nurturing and inclusive learning environments for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as behaviours associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom teachers in delivering engaging lessons tailored to students’ individual needs.
  • Work closely with students to provide one-on-one and small group support, fostering emotional well-being and confidence.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Educational Heath Care Plans (EHCPs) to enhance student learning and behaviour.
  • Promote positive behaviour management strategies in line with the school's policies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and their families, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, psychologists, and outside agencies, to create a supportive learning atmosphere.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs and/or ASD is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, coupled with a positive attitude towards challenges.
