Our client who specialises in Precision Engineering, is looking for a skilled Manual Machinist to join their growing team! This role is a multi-skilled role, while it is primarily Manual Machining they will provide any necessary training on the assembling / fitting aspects.
Manual Machinist Roles and Responsibilities:
- Using manual lathes & mills with DRO
- Cut threats on manual mills and lathes
- Worked with various material grades, selecting the correct tools for the material grade
- Complete internal/ external surface finishes,
- Using spot-facing machining to cover in other departments
- Check work with inspection equipment (bore comparators, bore mics, vernier, calliper gauges, air gauges
Assembler Roles and Responsibilities:
- Use fitting tools i.e. presses and hand tools preferable
- Use aerospace jointing compounds e.g. PR1770
- Staking bushes and bearings
- Beading using air-fed machines
- Part marking
- Pressure testing
The ideal Manual Machinist / Assembler will have:
- Extensive manual machining experience on XYZ lathes and mills
- Fitting and assembly experience is preferable but not essential
- Fully skilled time served machinist, apprentice trained preferably
- Working within aerospace, familiar with AS9100 and material traceability
- Must be used to working to tight limits = ±.001" (.025mm)
- Be able to read and work from engineering drawings and job cards
