Job Title: Area Registered Building Inspector
Department: Operations
Reports to: Technical Operations Manager

Role Purpose:
The Area Registered Building Inspector (RBI) is responsible for ensuring compliance with building regulations and standards, contributing to the growth of the business, and maintaining strong client relationships. The role includes overseeing plan evaluations, site inspections, and statutory consultations, as well as providing professional guidance and upholding quality risk management and compliance policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct plan checks, inspections, and consultations to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Achieve annual fee income targets.
  • Self-generate leads and maintain client relationships.
  • Oversee restricted activities in evaluating plans, site inspections, and issuing final certificates.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage risk policies.
  • Provide advice to the Building Control Body and Building Safety Regulator.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to operational improvements.
  • Ensure competence through ongoing professional development and training.
  • Offer client CPD sessions and manage conflicts of interest.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Professional qualification/membership (RICS, MCABE) with Class 2/3 RBI status; Class 4 Technical Manager status is desirable.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, fire safety, health and safety, and the construction design process.
  • Experience with large projects (e.g., high-rise residential, mixed-use, hotels).
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, communication, and IT skills.
