They are looking for a Senior/Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Poole on a permanent basis.The Lead Mechanical Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
  • BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 5 or more years of industry experience working in similar Mechanical or Design role
  • Ideally have some experience in a process industry, Fluid, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Aerospace or similar
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, SPM, valves, pumps, actuators, pneumatics, gauges, piping etc
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and instrumentation
  • Excellent proficiency with CAD software – SolidWorks or similar
  • Strong R&D, FEA and CFD skills
  • Proven ability to drive Engineering development
  • Good mathematical and general engineering knowledge
  • The ability to understand system requirements
  • Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Able to travel nationally and internationally on occasion  
The Lead Mechanical Engineer role will involve:
  • Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
  • Working within the R&D multi-disciplinary team
  • Leading client projects to convert ideas into designs
  • Working on new product concepts
  • Perform development activities and find new mechanical solutions
  • Being involved in the product design and development process using CAD
  • Working with high precision instrumentation products
  • Modelling, analysis and the development of mechanisms
  • Involved in building and developing prototypes
  • Conducting design reviews
  • Producing the relevant documentation that is required
  • Driving continuous improvement
