Buyer – Poole - £30,000 - £35,000 dependent on experience

Reporting to the Purchasing and Supply Manager, we now have the opportunity for a talented, dynamic, and passionate supply chain professional to join our Company as a Buyer. Supporting the Purchase and Supply Manager to deliver a first-class procurement service for the Company, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and distributors, whilst ensuring a seamless procurement process.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Sourcing quality materials and components.
  • Confidently negotiating terms with new and existing suppliers.
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with vendors, including visits to existing suppliers.
  • Confidently liaising between supplier, internal departments, and customers.
  • Collaborating with sales, operations, and customer service teams.
  • Ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing decisions from vendor selection to delivery.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Identifying potential new suppliers.
  • Assisting the logistics process for the development of new products, inventory maintenance, manufacturing, shipment, delivery, and any returns.
  • Maximising stock availability whilst minimising stock levels in line with lean principles.
  • Managing slow moving stock.
  • Maintaining accurate purchase data (price/lead time/minimum stock etc.)
  • Researching companies and determining the best vendors to reach out to for various projects.
  • Ensuring the necessary supplier contracts/framework agreements are in place and maintained.
  • Identify and managing supplier risk.
  • Participation in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow.
  • Negotiating and agreeing prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders.
  • Forecasting price trends.
  • Attending meetings and deputising for the Purchase and Supply Chain Manager

What we are looking for from you

Education Requirements:

• Relevant CIPS qualification is desirable.

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience with Supply Chain role is essential, preferably within an engineering manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrable experience negotiating and communicating with suppliers.
  • Hands on experience with supply chain management software (such as SAP, MRP/ERP etc.) and Microsoft Office suites.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data to make informed procurement decisions.
  • Demonstrable experience driving cost savings and process improvements through effective procurement strategies.
