The Role:

As our Health & Therapy Support Coach, you will be working closely with the Student Health Practitioner and external professionals to deliver a range of support interventions focused on speech, language, communication, sensory, mobility and medical needs.

The Student Inclusion and Support is a dedicated team within the Student Experience Directorate to help support all aspects of a student’s journey while they are studying at The Bournemouth and Poole College.

The Student Inclusion and Support department comprises 3 strands of support; Student Engagement, Student Wellbeing and Learning Support.

Responsibilities as our Health & Therapy Support Coach:

  • Helping identify students that have disclosed specific support needs to work with them and those around them to ensure best practice in co-production of support plans.
  • Assisting the Student Health Practitioner to gather initial information and conduct initial assessments of support needs as part of the admissions and consult process.
  • Supporting the regular review of care-plans.
  • Contributing to the regular review of risk assessments.
  • Working directly with a caseload of students to deliver support interventions as directed by the Health Practitioner, and regularly review and record progress and outcomes.
  • Working closely with the wider inclusion team and teaching staff to ensure that any support is delivered as part of a wider, holistic program and is accessible for the student.
  • Supporting teaching staff and support colleagues to implement specific strategies and advice from professionals.
  • Being prepared to deliver first aid to students should they become unwell whilst waiting for the designated first aider.

As our Health & Therapy Support Coach, you’llideally have:

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Relevant and recent experience working with people who have additional support needs.
  • Experience in working effectively with colleagues and external agencies
  • Knowledge of post 16 Education and SEND services
  • Communication skills including written and verbal
