We have an exciting opportunity for a Work Experience Support Assistant to join the team on a full-time, term time only, permanent basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £22,745 per annum, pro rata for term time only.

About the role:
As the Work Experience Support Assistant, you will provide additional support to students in the workplace allowing them to access and fully engage in work experience.
The Student Inclusion and Support is a dedicated team within the Student Experience Directorate to help support all aspects of a student’s journey while they are studying at The Bournemouth and Poole College.
The Student Inclusion and Support department comprises 3 strands of support; Student Engagement, Student Wellbeing and Learning Support.

Responsibilities as our Work Experience Support Assistant will include:
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and work placement teams to provide high-quality, personalised support to students accessing work experience. This will vary depending on the student’s individual needs and may involve personal care and practical support.
- Support students to develop employability skills and independence, regularly assess and record progress in the workplace.
- Provide support preparing for and transitioning to work placements which may include travel training, local visits and classroom-based activities.
- Develop positive relationships with employers offering support and advice on strategies to support diversity in the workplace.
- To supervise and support students throughout their day including breaks and lunches depending on their individual needs and support plans.
- Keep accurate and timely records, updating the College systems to evidence support, record student targets and monitor progress.
- Work closely with the wider inclusion team and external professionals to ensure that any support is delivered as part of a wider, holistic program and is accessible for the student.
- Always act in a way that ensures the respect, dignity and right to privacy of students. Ensure that their personal data is managed with specific regard to GDPR but also sensitivity and confidentiality in regard to content when liaising with employers.
As our Work Experience Support Assistant, you’llideally have:
- Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
- Relevant and recent experience working with people who have additional support needs.
- Experience in working effectively with colleagues and external agencies
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of post 16 Education and SEND services
- Attendance at college events ie open evenings including outside of normal working hours
