  • Other duties may include emergency stand-by duties out of hours, sea trials participation, delivery of boats to and from the coast, and involvement in ad hoc tasks as required.

Job Overview
To undertake the assembly, installation, modification, repair/maintenance and diagnostics of mechanical equipment/systems within the boatbuilding process and repair of all classes of Lifeboats.

Key Responsibilities
To undertake the installation, modification and maintenance of marine mechanical equipment and systems
To undertake the testing/commissioning of marine mechanical equipment and systems
To undertake the safe movement of marine vessels and components by selection of the correct lifting equipment, and application of the appropriate methods and techniques
To undertake the fabrication of marine components through a process of pattern development, cutting and assembly of the selected material
Ability to correctly identify tools, materials and equipment associated with the relevant task/process
Confirmation and compliance of task/job delivery against standards
Understand the correct use of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) information, engineering data and documentation
Actively participate in good occupational health, safety and environmental behaviours
Work to achieve all safety, quality, production, cost and people business targets
To apply continuous improvement (Lean) tools and techniques to shop floor and support functions
Requirement for emergency stand-by duties out of hours including weekends and bank holidays
To become involved in other ad hoc tasks as required.
Take part in sea trials
Delivery of boats to and from the coast


Qualifications required
Relevant City and Guilds or NVQ level 3/BTEC or time served apprenticeship or equivalent experience

Experience required
Extensive experience on the assembly, installation, modification, repair/maintenance and diagnosis of electrical equipment/systems within the marine environment.
Working from Engineering drawings and following standardised work.

Contract length & Rate
Rate dependant on experience between 15.70/h - 17.50/h PAYE plus holiday pay which can be accrued or advance. Umbrella co 20.64/h - 23/h
