Typically, this person will be an experienced Mig welder with experience on ship repair

Day to day duties and responsibilities of the Welder:

  • Perform MIG welding on ships, including hulls and structural components.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and follow welding specifications.
  • Repair and modify ship structures to meet MOD standards.
  • Work with materials like steel, aluminium, and stainless steel.
  • Ensure welds pass non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections.
  • Operate and maintain MIG welding equipment safely.
  • Follow health, safety, and security protocols in a marine environment.

Requirements Of the Welder:

  • Proven experience in MIG welding, preferably in marine or defence.
  • Welding certification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of welding techniques and metallurgy.
  • Experience working with military contracts is a plus.
  • Ability to work from complex technical drawings.
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
