Playing a game, eating lunch together, visiting a beach. They’re everyday things. But in this job, they’re powerful tools: for building trust, creating memories and improving young lives. The children in our care have faced more challenges than most, and it’s our job to help them realise their potential and integrate back into their communities.

Here, at CrossReach’s Residential Service, children live in small community houses and learn at a new purpose-built school, all supported by caring professionals like you. It’s a place made with positive experiences and clear structure in mind somewhere to heal in time, grow as individuals and succeed in the future.

Due to an increase in demand for our services we are now looking for a Children's Support Practitioner to join our team on a full time permanent basis . Whilst the role is based out of our beautiful house in Port Glasgow, Carraig View, over time you will support the children in some of our other centrally located houses. So if you like meeting people, enjoy a role where no two days are the same and want to be part of a great team this could be the role for you.

You can make an incredible impact in this job. You’ll play a vital role in assessing children’s needs and supporting the children to take positive steps forward. As part of a close-knit team, you’ll take a ‘whole-child’ approach focusing on everything from completing everyday tasks to improving relationships.

What is especially exciting about this role is that its multi site. That means you will have the opportunity to work across the various residential houses that we operate. Your base house will be Carraig View, with spectacular views over the water and lots of outdoor space for you to engage with our children. However by supporting the children in some of our other houses, the impact of your work will be felt across all our houses and children. We understand that in order to deliver great support to our children you will need to know when and where you are working so all that will be planned in advance with you. We also pay mileage from Carraig View to where ever you are working that day and a generous sleep over allowance if you need to stay over.

Ideally, you’ll have a relevant qualification and / or some experience in a care or education role. However, if you’ve got an emphatic approach with the ability to see beyond behaviour to the reasons why, we’ll provide full training for the role. You’ll need a driving licence, a sense of humour and a passion for what you do.

Even though CrossReach is one of Scotland’s largest social care organisations with services across the country, we genuinely value the individual. For the children here, that means being treated with respect, whatever the circumstances. For professionals like you, it means being part of an environment where you can contribute ideas, have your needs recognised and achieve your ambitions.

We also offer you a range of benefits that you would expect from an organisation that support others.

Firstly, there is access to a wide range of exclusive retail and leisure discounts through our rewards scheme and the Blue Light Discount card. We also ensure that your future and that of your loved ones is secured with a generous contributory pension plan and death in service benefit. Balancing work and family are made easier with our suite of enhanced family friendly policies and your health and wellness are prioritised with access to our health cash plan, giving you cash back for a wide range of health treatments. We even have access to a care concierge service to assist you with life's challenges, providing invaluable support when you need it most.

But we also know that your training and development is important to you, and as well as a contribution to your professional membership fees, we are keen to support you in making the right steps to learn, grow and develop in ways that are right for you.

CrossReach has been at the forefront of high quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. Today we are one of the largest social care providers in Scotland, with experience across a broad range of services. We are still growing, learning, and improving, thanks to the incredible people we have the privilege to support, and all those who support us. We are part of the Church of Scotland and aim to provide social care services and specialist resources in Christ’s name to further the caring work of the Church to people in challenging circumstances.

As we do our work in Christ’s name you must be respectful of our Christian Ethos and be able to work within it.
