We have an initially temporary Human Factors and Ergonomic Specialist role available within TATA's Port Talbot Steelworks. Thousands of employees deliver quality work at this site daily and it is the largest Steelworks in the UK. The successful applicant will be someone who has experience within a large multi layered organisation, reducing human error in emergency situations.
Role: Human Factors and Ergonomic Specialist
Location: TATA Steel, Port Talbot SA13 2NG
Rate: Competitive and based on experience
Contract length: 6 months initially
Start: ASAP but pending a successful medical result
Responsibilities: (not exhaustive)
- Providing and leading an expert service to the UK business in relation to Human Factors
- Conducting risk assessments, human error reduction, task analysis, incident investigation and alarm handling tasks
- Focusing on existing operations across the business to minimise human error in emergency situations
- Supporting and providing advice on specific team projects including the new electric arc furnace
- Implementing a Human Factors integration plan
- Communicating the Human Factors integration plan across the business
- Managing and ensuring compliance with relevant Human Factors standards
- Liaising with regulatory authority as required
- Ensuring compliance with the HSE Human Factors 6 Topics
Essential requirements:
- Qualified to degree level in relevant subject matter to the role
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors
- Experience within a Human Factors role in an Industrial, Manufacturing or Engineering environment
- Experience operating under COMAH regulations
- Ability to work with regulators on a frequent basis
- Good understanding of Process Safety and Occupational Safety Management
- Capability to translate High Hazard industry best practice to the Steelworks
- Confidence liaising with stakeholders of all level
- Knowledge and understanding of Energy Institute 454 Human Factors Engineering guidance
- Strong written and verbal communication skill
- IT Literacy especially with in house systems and MS Office
- Capacity to work under minimal supervision and upon own initiative
- Driving Licence and access to own vehicle
