Acorn by Synergie is seeking a skilled and dedicated Civil Engineer to join our client's team in delivering a large-scale electric arc furnace project in Port Talbot
This is a high-profile £1.25bn industrial project aimed at modernizing and enhancing steel production capabilities, requiring a professional with a strong background in civil engineering, industrial construction, and project management.
What You'll Do
As a Civil Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering works contracts within a major construction project.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, and project managers to develop detailed designs for the arc furnace foundation and surrounding infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, local building codes, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
- Supervise civil construction activities, including excavation, concrete pouring, and steel reinforcement.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely and quality execution of civil works.
- Monitor site safety and enforce adherence to safety protocols.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate civil works with other project components.
- Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, providing updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Inspect materials, workmanship, and construction techniques to ensure high standards.
- Address any technical issues or deviations from the design specifications promptly.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including reports, drawings, and schedules.
What You'll Need
We're looking for a Civil Engineer who's ready to make an impact
Essential Requirements:
- HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
- Experience in reviewing civil engineering drawings and managing construction contracts.
- A strong understanding of health and safety in construction.
- Proven experience managing costs, budgets, and quality on-site.
- A UK/EEC driving licence.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Chartered membership (or working towards it) with a relevant professional body.
- Experience in industrial or heavy civil engineering projects.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts and BIM systems like BIM360 or ACC.
