Are you an experienced Social Worker looking to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and young people? We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join the Placement & Permanency Team at Vale of Glamorgan Council, ensuring children have stable, long-term placements that meet their needs. This role offers a hybrid working model, allowing a balance of remote work and essential in-person visits.

Role Overview:

As a Social Worker in the Placement & Permanency Team, you will play a vital role in securing long-term, stable placements for children in care. You will work closely with foster carers, adoptive families, and external agencies to support children’s well-being and ensure they have the best possible start in life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and identify suitable permanency options for children in care, including fostering, adoption, and Special Guardianship Orders.
  • Develop and implement care and placement plans, ensuring the best outcomes for children.
  • Work closely with children, families, foster carers, and external agencies to provide ongoing support and intervention.
  • Complete court reports and attend care proceedings, reviews, and panel meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Act 1989, Adoption and Children Act 2002, and other relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree/Diploma in Social Work).
  • Registered with Social Care Wales.
  • Experience in placement, permanency, fostering, or adoption services.
  • Strong knowledge of child safeguarding, care planning, and court proceedings.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-agency team.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
