Overview

The Tongadale Hotel is a 25 bedroom hotel offering comfortable accommodation. The hotel also has a bar and a restaurant seating 52 covers. The hotel has a long tradition in island hospitality having been owned and operated by the same family for over 70 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in food preparation activities. Cooking dishes and plating up dishes.
  • Ensuring daily knowledge of dishes to be served, together with the appropriate garnish, portions and prices.
  • Maintaining the menu boards.
  • Organising and correctly storing food supplies.
  • Assisting with the washing up in the scullery and kitchen.
  • Ensuring a clean and safe working environment at all times by following all relevant health and safety procedures and ensuring all HACCP paperwork is completed.
  • Following COSHH regulations at all times.
  • Carry out deep clean as directed by management.
  • Cleaning and sanitising the food preparation areas based on company and industry hygiene codes and health and safety standards. Washing, disinfecting and properly storing cooking and kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Operating a variety of kitchen appliances and instruments including knives, grills, mixers and ovens.
  • Ordering stock in the absence of the Head Chef.

Work Patterns

  • Permanent position
  • Monday to Sunday
  • Annualised 40 hour per week over 5 days
  • Flexible hours between 6am and 10pm
  • Holidays calculated on numbers of hours worked

Qualifications and Experience

Required

  • Experience preferred of working in a commercial kitchen
  • In - depth understanding of food health and safety regulations
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail

Desirable

  • Elementary Health and Hygiene Certificate
