CMA is working exclusively with a highly successful Manufacturing Group based in Portsmouth, Hampshire, in the recruitment for an experienced Financial Controller to work alongside the Finance Director as an integral part of the Senior Management team.  The key responsibility of the position will be to undertake the responsibility for the financial management of the business unit whilst also supporting the Finance Director in strategic and operational decision making to ensure the continual success of the business.

What will the Financial Controller role involve?

Reporting to the Finance Director, the main responsibilities of the Financial Controller role will involve:

  • Preparation and submission of annual budgets, forecasts and report, liaising with other departments to maintain accurate profit forecasts and expense budgets;
  • Production of annual statutory financial statements for Group companies in accordance with all current applicable accounting standards;
  • Preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts for all individual companies including detailed analysis of any variance to budget;
  • Cash flow management for all including weekly cash flow planning and approval of bank payments to ensure maximisation of cash flow;
  • Day to day management of the finance function including support and development of a team of 3.

Suitable Candidate for the Financial Controller opportunity:

  • Applicants for the position will ideally hold a full accountancy qualification but candidates with previous experience of undertaking the day to day financial management of an SME;
  • Self-motivation, a hands on approach, strong people management skills and the ability to work effectively with key non-finance stakeholders throughout a business will be essential to undertake the role successfully.
