Are you an experienced Management Accountant looking for a quick start in the Portsmouth area? We are looking for a Management Accountant to join a large organisation who support the local community on a 5-month temporary assignment to support during a busy period. Working closely with the Senior Accountant, the key focus of this role will be to prepare monthly accounts, monitoring reports, and year-end accounts.Reporting to the financial controller:
  • Support the Senior Accountant in delivering high-quality financial management and professional advice
  • Assist in providing financial services key stakeholders
  • Contribute to financial analysis and support across a range of financial and contractual matters
  • Interpret legislation, financial regulations, and codes of practice to ensure compliance
  • Support the monitoring and reporting of grants to regulatory bodies
  • Assist in identifying cost-saving and efficiency opportunities across service areas
  • Contribute to monthly financial monitoring and forecasting
  • Help drive the annual budget process
  • Support the preparation of year-end final accounts and statutory financial statements
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
What we’re looking for:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships
  • Clear and confident communicator at all levels, including senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage workload under pressure
  • Experience in local government finance, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Competent in financial appraisal techniques and maintaining financial models
  • Advanced Excel and IT proficiency, including Oracle Fusion and MS Office
  • Organised, adaptable, and able to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
