Assistant Registrar (Sixth Form and International Admissions)

Salary: £18,293 per annum (pro-rata based on FTE salary of £27,440)
Job type: Permanent, Part Time
Hours: 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 1.30pm.
The Grammar School is a leading co-educational school located in the heart of historic Portsmouth.
The Role
They are recruiting for an Assistant Registrar to support their Assistant Head (Admissions and Partnerships) with whole school admissions, as well as taking responsibility for Sixth Form and International admissions. This position will suit someone with administrative and communications experience who has the initiative to work independently and as part of a team.
This is a part-time, year-round position, to include attendance at all Professional Development Days (INSET) in the school calendar. The hours of work will be 25 per week, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 1.30pm.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the efficient and effective operation of the Admissions Dept
- Offer a high quality of personalised care for prospective pupils and their families
- Lead on Sixth Form and International admissions
- To have an oversight of all international admissions to the school
- Administer a robust and effective system relating to Child Student Visa applications
- Organise school tours, as requested by 16+ prospective parents
- Record admissions activity using the school’s Admissions software package and Management Information System
- Support events associated with the marketing and promotion of the school
Skills and Qualifications
- A good standard of education, with excellent spoken and written English (essential), ideally to degree level (desirable)
- Experience of working in an administrative role (essential)
- Experience of working in a team (essential)
- Experience of working with young people in an educational setting (desirable)
- Experience of working in a customer facing role, preferably within an education or professional services environment (desirable)
- Able to develop positive relationships with prospective UK and international families
- Highly organised and with excellent attention to detail
- A flexible and proactive attitude to the role
- Excellent communication skills and able to engage effectively by phone, email and in person
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office with a willingness to learn other software packages, as required
- Ability to work with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Willingness to undertake all necessary safeguarding and other training
