If you are a strong relationship builder, enjoy networking and getting amongst the business community, this would be an interesting and varied role. The client is a not-for-profit organisation seeking a Member Services and Events Co-ordinator in the Portsmouth/Southampton area.

Our Client

Our client is a global not for profit membership organisationwhich exists to advancethe science, ethics and practice of built environments across the world. Everything they do is to improve the quality of life for those using and creating the built environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will be themain point of contact for members of this not-for-profit, providing excellent service, support and membership advice for the Wessex and Channel Islands region. Your responsibilities will include:

Event coordination, delivery and measurement:
  • Deliver a range of local events, including CPD events (localised and national topics); site visits, professional networking/profile raising events, ensuring the institutes products and services arepromoted at every opportunity.
Member Services
  • Advise potential members on routes to membership,on local activities and products available to them.
  • Ensure enquiries are effectively responded to and thatthe CRM is kept up to date.
Communication and Promotion
  • Publicise and promote the local events programme (this may include joint events with other professional bodies or local associations).
  • Liaise with local universities/colleges/schools to ensure they are promoting membership, and have all the information relating to student membership
  • Deliver local relevant communications (eg scheduled events) via monthly newsletters, social media, email, website and phone.
Support
  • Attend the local volunteer committee, taking minutes and acting as a conduit of information between the local committee and Head office.
  • Responsibility for raising purchase orders and invoices for local events and associated incomeand expenditure.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be a people person, comfortable networking in the business community and have a strong attention to detail.

Essential
  • Demonstrable administrative experience
  • A passion for networking and building relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently at different levels
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Basic budgetary skills.
  • Minute taking experience.
  • Ability to work from home with minimal supervision essential.
  • Team player.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours to meet the organisations needs driving licence is required.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) experience of working with social media, with the ability to learn new in-house systems quickly.

Desirable

  • Experience of customer databases and webinar software is highly advantageous.
  • Experience of organising and reviewing successful events desirable.
  • Experience of leading volunteers or a voluntary committee is helpful.

The Terms

  • This is a permanent role based from home, but with a proportion of time spent out and about in the business community in the local region which covers Wessex (Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Southampton and Brighton) and the Channel Islands.
  • There will be some evening work due to committee meetings, and once a quarter or twice yearly meetings at the head office in Bracknell.
  • Salary£26,265 FTE* (£20,429actual based on 28 hours per week in a 36 hour week).
  • Expenses, including travel, will be covered.
  • 28 hours per week, hours will be flexible, to accommodate a variety of events including some breakfast meetings, and occasional evening committee meetings.
