HGV Class 1 Driver - Portsmouth

We are looking for a dedicated HGV Class 1 Driver to join our logistics team. The role involves collecting trailers from the port, delivering to customers, and returning to the port. This position requires a professional and courteous individual who can represent the company at customer premises and ensure the accurate and timely collection and delivery of goods.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Drive Class 1 HGV vehicles for the collection and delivery of trailers.
  • Undertake coupling and uncoupling of trailers as required.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
  • Manage load distribution on the vehicle to optimise space.
  • Complete relevant paperwork associated with deliveries and collections.
  • Act as a company representative at customer sites, maintaining a professional and friendly manner.
  • Work Monday to Friday, including Bank Holidays if needed, with both day (from 07:30 until finish) and night shifts (from 19:00 until finish, approximately 8 to 10-hour shifts) available.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A valid HGV Class 1 CE license with a minimum of two years of experience preferred.
  • No more than 6 points on the licence and no major endorsements (DD, IN, TT, or DR).
  • Current CPC Driver Qualification Card (Full CPC) and a valid Digital Tachograph card.
  • Understanding and compliance with the Working Time Directive Legislation (Driver’s hours).
  • Strong logistical and geographical knowledge.
  • Good communication skills with a solid understanding of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain a safe working environment in compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including working at a height without a harness (approximately 4 feet off the ground).
