Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Carpenter to join a dynamic team. This permanent position is ideal for an individual looking to advance their career and gain hands-on experience in a supportive work environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out responsive and routine repairs, as well as void repairs, to Portsmouth City Council's (PCC) Housing and Corporate Assets stock. You may also be required to support other maintenance contracts as necessary.

The role involves working across various property types, including but not limited to social housing, schools, public conveniences, offices, heritage sites, and museums. A high standard of workmanship, adherence to health and safety protocols, and compliance with company procedures are essential for delivering quality work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of carpentry repairs in occupied homes, buildings, and empty properties.

  • Install various types of doors, carry out first and second fixing, and fit kitchens.

  • Undertake ceramic wall tiling and vinyl floor tiling.

  • Conduct non-licensed asbestos removal (full training provided).

  • Ensure work is completed to a high standard, following health and safety guidelines.

  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism when interacting with clients, tenants, and colleagues.

Qualifications Required

  • NVQ Level 2-3 in Carpentry or equivalent.

Experience Required

  • Experience in a social housing or building maintenance environment preferred.

  • Experience in carrying out a variety of carpentry repairs and installations.
