About the Role

As a Senior Safeguarding Officer here at College, you will contribute to the provision and implementation of effective safeguarding and child protection by directing and supporting safeguarding assistants, supporting, and liaising with the Deputy Designated Safeguarding officer (DDSL), Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and the College Management team, as necessary. The Senior Safeguarding Officer will demonstrate the highest levels of commitment and compliance to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure that there is effective front-line support for students and other interventions as necessary in dealing with safeguarding issues.

Implement the College’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Procedures

Under the guidance of the DDSL, support the development and delivery of regular training for staff, ensuring that new employees receive safeguarding and child protection training.

Ensure accurate and timely reporting of safeguarding issues and support the maintenance of secure and confidential records in line with GDPR.

To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:

Designated Safeguarding Lead training

2 or 3 A Level passes

Previous experience of working in a safeguarding role

Experience of working with external agencies, students, and parents/carers

Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and procedures

Ability to deal with a wide range of people and able to relate to students of all ages

Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
