CNC Lathe Operator / Setter

Location: Portsmouth

Hours: 37.5 hours a week. Monday to Friday

Rotating shifts 06:00 - 14:00 / 14:00 - 22:00 or Night Shifts 22:00 - 06:00

Acorn by Synergie is currently seeking an experienced CNC Machinist, required by their client, a leading global manufacturing and engineering company. This role offers full-time work on a temporary to permanent basis. Permanent contracts are available for suitable candidates at the Client's discretion once 12 weeks has been completed.

What are we looking for?

  • Experienced CNC machinist that can set and operate a CNC lathe (fanuc) as well as deburring all of produced work
  • Be able to prove out new programs on a fanuc CNC Lathe with minor program alterations
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and carry out self-inspection using measuring equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of working with stainless steel.
  • Ideally experience on a 2 axis CNC lathes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all departments and functions
  • Must be of a willing and flexible nature
  • This job may entail working on more than one machine within the machine shop
  • To be punctual and reliable

Main responsibilities

  • Setting/ part programming CNC / NC lathe Machinery using Fanuc controls. As this is not a large batch manufacturing facility setting is a major part of this role
  • Operating machinery within the Machine shop, manufacturing component parts for filter housings
  • Record all work accurately within the database
  • Record all productivity and downtime via scorecards inline with GDP
  • Clock on and off each job that you work on
  • Reading engineering drawings
  • Self-inspection of finished product using measuring equipment
  • Reporting any production issues to the shift Line Leader in the first instance
  • To look for and implement opportunities for continuous improvement of processes to reduce cost and improve efficiency
  • Any other duties as reasonably required including following all Health & Safety policies
