ROLE- Machinist LOCATION- PortsmouthTERM- Permanent SALARY- £25,000- £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and precision parts, and they are looking to take on a Machinist, on a permanent basis, in the Portsmouth area. The Machinist will ideally have the following attributes:

Time served Engineer (NVQ/ Apprenticeship/ City & Guilds qualification ideally)
Ideally 2 years’ experience or more in a similar engineering manufacturing / machine shop environment
Experience of working with CNC, milling, turning or manual grinding
Experience of working with Delcam programming or 5 axis machining would be desirable but not essential
Be able to work with MS Office
Good communication skills
Have the ability to read/ interpret engineering drawings
The ability to work well alone as well as part of a team

The Machinist role will involve:

Being responsible for the machining of one off engineering components
Working to the right standards and specifications
Interpreting engineering drawings
Writing CNC machining programs (turning/ milling/ grinding)
Helping to train apprentices or less experience team members
Assisting with other general manufacturing activities
Helping to drive the companies Continuous Improvement program
Maintaining high standards
