Assistant Project Manager - CIVILS

It's an exciting time to join our Clients team as the engage on industry leading civil engineering projects  This role is ideal for dynamic and forward-thinking individuals who are ready to support major civil infrastructure projects and contribute to the successful delivery of their works.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support the Project Manager in managing responsibilities under the NEC contract.
  • Engage in effective communication with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Contribute to the planning and development phases of the project.
  • Assist in the coordination and management of project activities.
  • Manage various ad hoc projects from concept to completion, ensuring successful delivery.
  • Represent the department at various Sub-Group meetings.
  • Monitor pipeline works and coordinate activities through regular stakeholder meetings.
  • Produce and support monthly progress reports and governance approval papers.
  • Lead procurement, monitoring, and performance of NEC contracts.
  • Support the design interface with approved suppliers.
  • Utilise CEMAR contract management software for effective communication.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders to secure agreement or acceptance of plans associated with the reservoir scheme.
  • Ensure a seamless handover of the project into operation upon completion.
  • Maintain project development in accordance with Portsmouth Water standards, specifications, and policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, design, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in major civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with NEC contract management is desirable.
  • Membership in a relevant professional institution (e.g., MICE, APM, PMI).
  • Project management qualification (PRINCE, APM, or PMI).
  • Full driving licence and ability to pass our driver assessment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build excellent relationships.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and capable of fostering collaborative working.
  • Proven project management capabilities and working knowledge of planning software and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
