Salary: Scale 6 (PIP1) £15.96 p/h and SO1 (PIP2) £17.58 p/h

Contract: Up to 12 months

Hours: Full Time (37 hours per week) / Part-time (substantial hours)

Overview:

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary are seeking experienced Police Staff Investigators to join our professional team in Portsmouth. This role is crucial in supporting front line officers with a wide range of investigative activities and contributing to making Hampshire and Isle of Wight a safer place to live.

This is a non-case-holding role therefore will be supportive as action team member working within the area Criminal Investigation Departments and working with current investigators in dealing with Serious and Complex crimes.

This role will suit an experienced Detective or Police Constable, Detective or Police Sergeant, Detective or Police Inspector, Police Staff Investigator or Civilian Investigator looking to deploy skills and experience built up through previous police service. 

Day-to-day of the role:

Conducting various investigative activities including statement taking, securing and reviewing CCTV, suspect interviewing, and file building.

Working within the area Criminal Investigation Departments as a supportive action team member.

Collaborating with current investigators in dealing with Serious and Complex crimes.

Engaging in intelligence interviews and Offences Taken into Consideration (TIC’s).

Ensuring adherence to Criminal Law and Criminal Justice procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Qualified to PIP 1 or 2 or equivalent.

Have undertaken investigatory work within the previous 5 years

Knowledge of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice procedures is desirable

Ability to cope under pressure and maintain resilience.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to write concise reports.

Leadership skills with the ability to lead by example.
