Complex Needs Support - Teaching Assistant

Location: Portsmouth

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive and welcoming school in Portsmouth, helping children with a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and Foetal Alcohol Syndrome.

This role involves providing targeted support to help children overcome communication barriers, develop social skills, and improve their confidence.

About the Role:
  • Supporting children with varied additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, and communication difficulties
  • Encouraging speech and language development through structured activities
  • Working in a friendly and collaborative team
  • Full-time role: Monday - Thursday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Some personal care responsibilities may be required
About You:
  • Confident in supporting children with communication barriers
  • Experience or understanding of Special Educational Needs
  • Knowledge of non-verbal communication and speech and language difficulties
  • Reliable, proactive, and patient
  • Makaton training is desirable but not essential
