Electrician - Permanent - Portsmouth Dockyard, UK - Starting Salary 34,500

Currently working with a major company in Portsmouth Dockyard, they are currently recruiting for a number of qualified Electricians. If you want to start a career supporting the Royal Navy fleet, then this is a great opportunity. Please note that security clearance will be part of the onboarding process.

To be considered for this role, you must have completed an appropriate trade apprenticeship or naval equivalent qualification

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, MDS, and guidance information.
  • Conducting electrical testing on systems with voltages of 12V, 24V, 110V, 240V, and 440V.
  • Performing various crimping techniques and soldering.
  • Executing electrical installation, maintenance, and defect rectification according to project schedules to meet customer quality expectations.
  • Installing, testing, and maintaining communications equipment such as VHF radios, intercoms, GPS, and AIS.
  • Diagnosing faults and rectifying defects.
  • Conducting detailed inspections and being fully conversant with the use of all measuring equipment.
  • Using calibrating measurement equipment.

Your Skills and Experiences:

  • Completed an appropriate trade apprenticeship or naval equivalent qualification.
  • Proficient in understanding electrical installation drawings.
  • Clear understanding of SHE risks and awareness.
  • Knowledgeable about manufacturing processes.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and/or at heights.
  • Possess safety certifications such as SHE Induction, COSHH Awareness, and working at height.
  • Background in marine, offshore, construction, or manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
