The Portsmouth Grammar School is a leading co-educational school located in the historic heart of Portsmouth.

The Role

Our Careers Co-ordinator works closely with our Head of Careers, Universities and Scholarship Department to support pupils in a wide range of careers and university activities, aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks of good career guidance. The hours of work will be 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday. The standard work pattern is 8.30am to 4.30pm, with an unpaid 30 minutes for lunch.

The start date will be November 2024.

Main Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing careers events and programmes for pupils in Years 7-13
  • Offering guidance on subject choices and career pathways
  • Developing and implementing CV writing programme and interviews
  • Promoting and implementing work placement programme
  • Implementing Careers Profile programme
  • Developing and implementing an Apprenticeship programme
  • Developing and implementing careers presentations and events for Junior School pupils
  • Offering individualised careers advice and guidance on career pathways
  • Providing administrative support for the Head of Careers, Universities and Scholarship Department

The Ideal Candidate

  • A good standard of education, with excellent spoken and written English (essential)
  • Previous experience of working successfully in a team (essential)
  • Organised and with excellent attention to detail (essential)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (essential)
  • Relevant professional qualifications (desirable)
  • A willingness to engage in CPD relevant to the role
  • Ability to work independently in a busy office
