Location:  Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Southampton, Isle of Wight

Contract: 12 months

Work hours: Full time – Office Hours – Office based

Salary: £15.96 per hour PAYE

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To assist with the investigation of serious and complex crime under the Supervision, guidance and mentoring of a PIP 2 investigator
  • Ensure support is in place for victims during an investigation, such as through formulation of a victim strategy where required and working with the Victim Care Unit, or providing appropriate referral to support agencies, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the victim
  • Identify, gather, retain and effectively utilise relevant material, including information and intelligence in support of investigations
  • Identify and interview victims, witnesses, and suspects in accordance with PACE, ABE, Victim Code, F.P.P. and other relevant legislation
  • Prepare reports on the outcome of investigations, build and manage case files and conduct disclosure within best practice procedures to ensure there is an accurate audit trail.
  • To develop and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and partner agencies.
  • To give regular and effective service

Essential

  • Successful completion of Professionalising Investigation Programme (PIP) level 1 accreditation or similar experience
  • Demonstrable experience of complex information gathering and problem solving.
  • A detailed understanding of the criminal justice system.
