Server Build Engineer

Salary Range: Up to £48,750

Job Type: Permanent 

Hybrid Model: Fully Remote 

Overview:We are looking for a skilled Server Build Engineer to manage customer environments and ensure infrastructure and components function as expected. The role includes troubleshooting, supporting project activities, and systems administration across Windows, Linux, VMware, AWS, and Azure environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage customer requests, build, and configure servers per specifications.
  • Ensure SLAs are met and communicate effectively with customers and teams.
  • Monitor and resolve infrastructure issues, proposing improvements.
  • Administer and maintain Windows or Linux systems, virtualization, and cloud environments.
  • Develop automation scripts, update asset documentation, and address security vulnerabilities.
  • Adhere to change control processes and ensure proactive patching.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in systems administration, with expertise in either Windows or Linux Servers (Windows preferred).
  • Experience with VMware, AWS, Azure
  • In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, both physical and virtual servers
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, etc.) for automation.
  • Experience in asset management and maintaining server documentation.
  • Understanding and adherence to change control processes.
  • Security-focused approach, including patch management and vulnerability remediation.
  • Relevant certifications like Microsoft MCSA or Azure Administrator are a plus.

Desirable:

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef).
  • Experience with version control systems (Git).
  • Strong communication skills, with experience in customer-facing support roles
