Supply Desk are proud to represent a Special Education School that works with children from the ages of 7 –16 in different sites around the Portsmouth area. This school is looking for several SEND teaching assistants to support either 1:1 or in small groups.

Job Description?

  • Desire to work throughout Key stage 2, 3 and 4  (7-16 year olds)
  • Working with small groups delivering interventions such as Reading, Maths and Literacy
  • Has experience working with children with SEND (particularly ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech & language needs)
  • Is patient, empathetic and resilient with a strong sense of humour
  • Communicates clearly and effectively
  • Can work flexibly and adapt to the needs of individual pupils
  • Holds a relevant qualification or is keen to undertake training

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, under the guidance of class teachers and the SENDCo
  • Helping to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
  • Creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers, and external professionals
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and communication skills in learners
