IT Project Support Officer
2 Days a Week On site in Portsmouth6-Month Initial ContractYour new companyAn ambitious council is working towards delivering a strategy focused on Wellbeing, Pride in Place, and Growth. This role will play a critical part in supporting the development and shaping of one of the council's flagship projects, the ICT infrastructure and security project. This complex project will deliver numerous workstreams relating to the combined elements of the council's ICT infrastructure. The council's business-as-usual services are critically dependent on the success of this project, which is due to be completed at the end of September 2025.
Your new roleYour role will make a positive difference to the council's strategies by providing support to the IT Project Manager working on the ICT Infrastructure & Security project, ensuring the successful delivery of key project milestones and continued ICT infrastructure. This includes aligning these efforts with the corporate strategy and objectives to drive organisational success. The scope of this project includes the migration of the ICT infrastructure in its entirety from one outsourced provider to another. This involves tenancy management & security (including M365/SharePoint), Internet setup, Wi-Fi provision, IT Helpdesk activation, MS Teams telephony delivery, network drive migration to Azure, user device roll-out, and supporting other systems and staff in their transition. What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience in a project support or coordination role, ideally within an IT programme or technical environment.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies, such as PRINCE2.
- Experience in project administration, including tracking progress and reporting.
- Strong communication skills, both digital and in-person.
- Excellent organisational and self-management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management tools (MS Project).
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward identifying and addressing challenges.
- IT NVQ or similar qualification in IT.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player, with a collaborative and positive approach to work.
- Adaptable and able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
