An exciting opportunity to join a busy Criminal department (no Criminal experience required) in a Legal Assistant/Paralegal capacity.

The Role & Responsibilities:

• Liaising with clients and external professionals in a professional manner
• Providing comprehensive Assistant/Paralegal support to Criminal Law Solicitors
• Drafting documents
• Briefing Counsel
• Taking witness statements
• Handling telephone calls and enquiries
• Diary management
• Organising meetings, appointments and court dates
• Maintaining high levels of confidentiality at all times

Person Specification:

• Previous Legal Assistant experience (Does not need Criminal experience training can be provided)
• Works well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
• A working knowledge of Legal Aid including processing applications for funding and Legal Aid Online would be an advantage but not essential
• Excellent attention to detail when preparing witness statements and court and other legal documents
• Possesses outstanding communication skills both verbal and written
• Have strong IT skills
• Demonstrate initiative and the drive to produce a high standard of service to the clients.
• Be highly organised, methodical and adaptable.

This is a full time role 9am 5pm Monday Friday, based in my clients Portsmouth office.
