Reed Recruitment are recruiting for a Building & Maintenance Warehouse Supervisor for our client that provides building and maintenance services for local housing associations. Our client carries out maintenance to social housing stock, such as plumbing, electrical, and painting responsive repairs, planned works and property improvements.

We are recruiting for a supervisor for their building supplies warehouse in Portsmouth. Reporting to their Warehouse Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and productivity. You will be responsible for managing staff, coordinating deliveries, maintaining stock accuracy, and upholding company standards. 

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of building materials and supplies 
  • Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good knowledge of stock replenishment systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • A practical use of Excel and Outlook

Duties:

  • Oversee placing of daily orders via agreed suppliers to ensure accurate stocking & replenishment of around 1000 building & repair parts / materials.
  • The management, training and health and safety of a small group of warehouse staff, including ensuring company expectations are met with regards to working hours, safe driving, and overall presentation, both with uniform and vehicles
  • Train and develop warehouse employees, engendering a positive and motivated team
  • Oversee receiving, storing, and despatching of goods & van stocks in an efficient and timely manner; with operatives being notified in a timely manner should there be a delay in delivery
  • Co-ordinate the delivery drivers to maximise the efficiency and minimise the cost of deliveries to operatives
  • Work closely with other departments & suppliers to ensure a seamless service, handling operational issues that arise and providing effective solutions
  • Security of materials and ensuring that they are always accounted for accurately
  • Receiving and checking of stock orders daily, booking in to the MTS system and locating items in the correct warehouse positions ready for picking
  • Accurately record details where orders are not correctly picked & delivered
  • Undertake general administrative duties including raising collection notes, credit and debit notes, ad hoc invoicing, and filing.
