Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established company in the water and wastewater sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced mechanical design engineer proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD to take on a senior role, providing leadership and guidance while working on complex projects.

Responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer include:

  • Lead mechanical design efforts from concept to delivery, including formulating parameters, testing, and implementation strategies.
  • Oversee project design elements, managing scoping, tendering, on-site delivery, and ensuring compliance with design and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with teams to optimise workflows, ensure profitability, and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Prepare and manage documentation, including proposals, specifications, schedules, testing, commissioning, and budget/resource allocation.
  • Conduct site surveys and troubleshoot, ensuring project execution aligns with quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, with 5+ years in mechanical design, preferably in the UK water sector.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, with expertise in CAD rendering, animations, and modelling.
  • Strong project management, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers, collaborating on design challenges, and ensuring compliance with health & safety and CDM regulations.
  • Valid UK driving licence, CSCS card, and confined spaces training preferred; nuclear, SSE, SGN, or construction experience a plus.
