Multi Skilled Engineer - Mechanical bias

Shift : Monday - Thursday, Friday

Salary - £51,376 per annum (salary £39,520 + 30% shift allowance)

Job description

Due to growth my client in Chichester has an exciting opportunity for a Night Multi Skilled Engineer to join the Engineering team.

The engineering team work closely with production to ensure minimum downtime and ensuring that the production plant, services and facilities are all maintained and improved by way of pre-planned and reactive maintenance. Working to identify and participate in, continuous improvement projects to help increase plant efficiency.

Successful candidates will have proven experience working in a similar environment, attending to machinery breakdowns, fault diagnosis and establishing route cause analysis in a busy environment, candidates will work collaboratively within the engineering team, providing support and investigating means of improving plant productivity and efficiency.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Ensure that at all times safety of self and others is of primary concern and that all safety, environmental and other rules and regulations applying to the role are fully complied with.
  • Whilst on shift - ensure availability of all plant to meet production requirements and services such as steam, gas, electricity, compressed air refrigeration and effluent treatment plant.
  • Liaise with the production Shift Manager to ensure focus is given to the priority issues, while ensuring completion of all activities that are non breakdown related.
  • Assist the production team in ensuring delivery of the production schedule at all times. Seek to ensure smooth and efficient operation of all production equipment with maximised uptime.
  • Ensure all line changes are completed in a timely manner, to the optimum setting configurations, and tested to prove line efficiency.
  • To carry out a detailed root cause analysis (RCA) exercise on all Engineering Downtime, exceeding three hours.
  • To forward plan PPM tasks, ensuring that all necessary parts and any special tools are available, to complete the work in a timely manner.
  • To use the SAP system to account for all hours, tasks and costs incurred, during the performance of their duties.
  • Ensure that job cards are completed in a timely manner ensuring that all engineering time is accounted for.
  • To ensure Work Requests are completed and ‘signed off', within the ‘Information Hub' portfolio.
  • To be actively involved in the Site 5S process, covering both the Engineering and Production functions.
  • Be competent and use when appropriate the permit to work system and lockout procedure.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Multi skilled Engineer with experience of automated industrial food processing and packaging machinery.
  • Diploma level qualification ideally in automation and / or mechatronics/ mechanical
  • Must have a logical working approach to breakdowns and problem solving on a day to day basis
  • Experience with planned maintenance systems.
  • Excellent health and safety awareness.
