Our client, BAE - Maritime Services, is seeking a skilled Ship Technician to join their team on a contract basis at the UK Naval Defence Base in Portsmouth. This role involves working on the Type 45 and Carriers for the UK Navy within a leading Defence and Security company.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and ensuring the safety of the ships within the naval base
  • Managing and applying safe systems of work (SSoW)
  • Interpreting drawings related to ship maintenance and repair
  • Testing and proving systems are dead before commencing work
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations


Job Requirements:

  • Experience as a BAE-trades-ship warden
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work (SSoW)
  • Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic working environment
  • Proficiency in IT and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Comfort working within a naval defence environment
  • Background in Oil and Gas or experience with the Merchant Navy as a junior engineer is desirable
