Your new companyYou will be working for a local organisation in which you will be managing the payroll process, alongside the payroll assistant for the medium-sized entity.Your new roleYou will be managing the payroll for a circa 550 employee business, on a monthly payroll, with key duties and responsibilities including:

  • Lead, manage and develop the day to day running of the payroll function, which includes salary, pensions and expenses, starters, leavers, contract changes and tax code changes - with due regard to employment legislation and policies & procedures.
  • Establish and ensure the payroll process has sufficient financial controls in place and operates within the organisations Financial Regulations and Financial Procedures
  • Ensure accurate month and annual returns are completed for pension schemes
  • To ensure the payroll team can advise on a range of payroll and pension issues.
  • Work with the payroll system providers to ensure the correct system setup, to develop the system, and to improve reporting.
  • To be the expert on pension legislation, including leading on the implementation of pension and payroll related legislative and system changes.
  • To maintain an appropriate level of technical knowledge in payroll and pension matters
  • Support both internal and external audits
  • Assist the Director of People Strategy and Organisational Development with any ad hoc tasks as required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Full right-to-work in the UK, with prior experience working within a UK payroll position.
  • Experience managing an end-to-end payroll, processing monthly.
  • Line management experience is preferred, not essential.
