They are embarking on a transformative journey to internalise their waste services department, currently managed by a third-party supplier. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of a significant change initiative, ensuring a seamless and efficient transition. Your New Role As a seasoned Project Manager, you will lead the internalisation of our waste services department. Your role will encompass overseeing the transition of systems, personnel, equipment, resources, and operational processes. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including council members, contractors, and the public, to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Key responsibilities include:*Developing and implementing a comprehensive project plan for the insourcing process. *Experience managing projects from inception to go-live. *Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the transition are covered, providing regular project updates. *Monitoring project progress and making necessary adjustments to ensure successful completion. *Proven experience in waste management, particularly within a council or local government setting. *Overseeing the integration of IT systems from the third-party supplier to the Council's infrastructure. *Ensuring accurate and secure data migration in collaboration with technical teams. *Managing the transition of staff from the third-party supplier to the Council. *Coordinating the transfer of equipment and resources required for efficient service operation. *Overseeing procurement and contract negotiations. * Identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies. *Monitoring and managing risks throughout the project lifecycle. What You'll Need to Succeed To excel in this role, you will need: *Proven experience in project management within the local government sector. *Strong change management experience. *Excellent leadership and team management skills. *Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. *Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. *PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification is desirable.
