Construction Project Leader

£30.23 - £40 per hour

Morson are currently recruiting for one of our Aerospace clients for a Construction Project Leader based in Portsmouth. You will lead teams through the detailed design of Building Services for a range of projects including major plant replacement and refurbishment works. within an Aerospace manufacturing site. You will set up and lead CAPEX projects from inception and feasibility, then design and specification through to final handover.

You will be responsible for the set-up and management of Multi-Functional Project Teams to deliver projects in accordance with compliance procedures. The ability to manage external construction contractors and ensure compliance with procedures I essential. The role is being offered on an initial 12-month basis with the possibility of extension or permanent conversion. The role is hybrid remote, with 3 days a week expected on site at a rate of £30.23 per hour PAYE or £40 per hour Umbrella inside IR35.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the detailed design of Building Services for a range of projects including major plant replacement and refurbishment works.
  • Prepare condition surveys, service delivery audits plant replacement/life cycle plans.
  • Application of industry standard design and calculation software.
  • Develop, update/manage and monitor a project delivery plan.
  • Liaising with clients, architects, and other design team members.
  • Preparation of reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Monitoring/ Audit/ Validate progress of Professional Service Work Packages and works on site and observance of technical compliance and H&S matters.
  • Manage CAPEX business cases from preparation through approval to delivery and project close.
  • Develop detailed design briefs for Building Services design for a range of projects including major plant replacement and refurbishment works.
  • Preparation of reports, drawings, and specifications. Able to prepare and manage project external costs from request through approval to completion.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong Project Manager with construction experience.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team including external professional staff.
  • Experience in Capital Investment Project management, and project delivery is required.
  • Previous experience of Building Engineering Services Refurbishment in existing buildings with particular emphasis of working on large sites.
  • Experience of taking projects from inception and feasibility, through design and specification to site monitoring and handover.
  • Strong stake holder management skills.
  • Ability to develop client brief into construction requirements.
  • A good practical understanding of mechanical and electrical plant, systems and equipment.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience managing construction projects within the Defence or Aerospace sectors.
  • ONC / HNC or equivalent in a Building Engineering Services design-related discipline.
  • SMSTS or CCNSG.
  • NEBOSH qualifications.
  • Previous experience working within a consultancy environment.
  • Hold relevant level of professional membership i.e. CIBSE, IMechE, IET.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting on site
