Cost Management SpecialistPortsmouth£40,000 - £45,000

I am looking for an experienced Cost Management Specialist to join a thriving and dynamic team based down at Portsmouth Dock yard. You will be providing commercial support across a multitude of trades, supporting the upkeep and maintenance of Warships. This is a fulltime office-based role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance Commercial Performance:
    • Implement effective cost control measures and identify value-for-money opportunities, ensuring customer quality standards are met.
  • Build Strong Relationships:
    • Foster and maintain professional relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Contract Administration:
    • Manage contracts with clients and subcontractors, ensuring compliance and smooth execution.
  • Budget Analysis:
    • Compare the annual budget against actual costs, providing detailed insights.
  • Data Reporting:
    • Prepare and present weekly job cost analysis reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Work in Progress Review:
    • Collaborate with trade leads to assess project progress and ensure timely final invoicing.
  • Aged Debt Management:
    • Oversee and recover outstanding payments effectively.
  • Client Reporting:
    • Compile and deliver Client SLA monthly metric reports with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Forecasting:
    • Review and update monthly financial forecasts to reflect current performance and projections.
  • Trading Pack Support:
    • Assist with the preparation and review of monthly trading packs for accurate financial reporting.
  • Subcontractor Management:
    • Oversee subcontractor accounts, including variations and payment processing.
  • Commercial Guidance:
    • Provide support and advice to trade leads on commercial best practices.
  • Policy Compliance:
    • Ensure the site team adheres to the company’s commercial policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE / EXPECTATIONS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A practical, logical and methodical approach to thinking and problem solving.
  • Experience of collating costs and maximising value
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook. Experience in Power BI would also be beneficial but not essential.
  • Maintain a Personal Development Plan
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Experience of Marine industry would be an advantage but not essential
  • Demonstration of working to deadlines, working efficiently and to a high standard
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent level of education or experience
