Blaymires Recruitment is representing a respected main contractor based near Portsmouth who is searching for a Quantity Surveyor to join the business.

The company undertakes refurbishment and new build projects across the high-end residential, heritage and commercial sectors with projects ranging up to £2M.

The company is steadily growing and are looking for a motivated and commercially aware Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor who is able to take full control of projects from inception through to final account.

As a Quantity Surveyor your role will be to minimise the cost and risk of a construction projects and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required legal standards and quality.

Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:

  • Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies to ensure their proposals will work.
  • Prepare and analyse project costings for tenders, such as materials, quantities, labour and time.
  • Evaluating proposals from suppliers and contractors and recommending preferred option.
  • Procure all the specialists, sub-contract and materials required for building projects and ensure they are provided on time and within allocated budgets.
  • Managing project valuations to clients, ensuring accurate and realistic cashflow is achieved.
  • Management of Sub-contract applications, ensuring accurate and realistic payments are made.
  • Preparation of CVRs to provide accurate project cost information, project forecasting and accurate financial management of projects.
  • Costing of variations, management of those variations with clients, and inclusion in valuations.
  • Review and management of JCT formal contract documents.
  • Preparation of final accounts for projects to clients and for sub-contractors.

Experience of the Quantity Surveyor:

  • Residential or Main Contracting experience.
  • Knowledge of JCT forms of contract.
  • HNC or Construction related degree.
