Role Overview

As an SEN Science Teacher, you will play a crucial role in the school's learning support centre, a safe and quiet space designed to nurture students with special educational needs


You will work with pupils who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) on a one-to-one, one-to-two, or small group basis, tailoring your approach to meet individual learning needs



Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and accessible science lessons to students with special educational needs
  • Adapt the curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and abilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with EHCPs
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to student development
  • Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records
  • Contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)


  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialization in Science
  • Ability to teach Science up to GCSE
  • Experience teaching students with special educational needs
  • Strong knowledge of the science curriculum and SEN teaching strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for inclusive education
  • Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment
