Vision for Education are seeking an experienced Youth Support Worker to work in a full-time educational provision that provides highly specialised provision for children and young people in KS3 and KS4 with complex SEMH needs who have an Education Health and Care Plan. Students are taught in small groups and access a broad and balanced curriculum. Social and emotional skills are a key part of the curriculum offer and students at KS4 are able to access a range of option choices. Students need skilled practitioners who adapt their practice where needed and are thereby able to meet the needs of all students through targeted, differentiated support.

About the role:

  • The Youth Support Worker will be supporting young people with Special educational need’s on a one-to-one basis. 
  • Building a strong rapport with the student to encourage them to attend and thrive in school 
  • Following the guidance of the teacher but knowing the student well enough to deal with any conflicts 
  • Working 8:30 - 15:30 Monday to Friday 
  • Working term time only for the full academic year

  • Located in Portsmouth

  • Easily accessible with parking and public transport links.
  • Supportive to staff, running weekly CPD training and team meetings.

About you:

  • A relevant Level 3 Qualification such as Children and Young People's Workforce, Sporting qualifications and more is desired but not required.
  • SEN expereince
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a valid DBS check*
  • Experience working with children with challenging behaviours and backgrounds
  • A non-judgmental and caring approach
  • Full driving license and willing to use own vechile for student transportation (travel expenses paid)
  • Have completed either PRICE or Team Teach Training
