We are currently working with a lovely SEN Secondary School in the Portsmouth area. We are looking for a pro-active and friendly individual to support KS3 and KS4 classes who cater for pupils with Special Educational Needs. The school’s focus is providing a nurturing environment that enables the pupils to engage successfully in all aspects of learning.

They are looking to find someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special needs!

Role of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Supporting the class Teacher (4-8 pupils per class)
  • Supporting with outdoor day trips and activity days
  • Embrace all aspects of the school’s visions and core values
  • Working with pupils with ASD, complex needs, and challenging behaviours
  • Full-time 8:30am to 3:30pm
  • 1:1 and small group work ensuring pupils stay on track with the curriculum
  • Pay: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have lots of patience, be proactive and resilient! - this role can be challenging, but it is very rewarding!
  • Experience working within a SEN school 
  • A strong ability to develop relationships and rapport with pupils
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

To work with GSL Education as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you should: 
 

  • Have the right to work in the UK. 
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years. 
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
