Salary Scale: £31,650 to £43,607 per annum

GSL Education are actively seeking an SEN English Teacher for a placement at a secondary School in Portsmouth. The school caters to students aged 11-16 who face complex learning challenges, often coupled with conditions like autism, speech and communication disorders, and various medical issues. The environment is one of kindness, support, and consideration, with a focus on helping students build confidence in communication and grow in independence. The school's mission is to equip students with the skills necessary to actively contribute to their community.
As a SEN English Teacher, your responsibilities will be to:
- Plan and execute engaging and creative lessons for secondary students, tailored to diverse learning needs
- Demonstrate positive behaviour and serve as a role model for students, effectively managing challenging behaviours when they arise
- Offer one-to-one or small group support for students with special, facilitating their access to the curriculum
- Conduct small group interventions to reinforce learning goals effectively
- Assist in maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere and managing behaviours
- Employ strategies for equitable access to education for students with additional needs
Requirements for the SEN English Teacher role:
- Proven experience working with studentswith SEN
- Possess a recognised Teaching qualification in the UK or have relevant experience.
- Experience teaching English
- Energetic and patient with strong classroom management skills
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK
- A full checkable work history
