Teacher Needed for SEND School in Portsmouth

We are working with a fantastic provision in Portsmouth who are looking for the right individual to join their team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting children with Social and Emotional Needs, and able to teach KS2 or KS3. A strong sense of behaviour management is important.

The students take part in a range of activities to enhance their learning, and they are supported, challenged and encouraged to succeed, both academically and pastorally.

This special school caters for pupils aged 11-16 years who have complex and SEMH (Social and Emotional Mental Health) needs. In addition to their learning difficulties some pupils have other needs associated with Autistic Spectrum Condition, speech, language and communication difficulties. It is the job of staff to provide a secure, consistent, structured environment where children can work to overcome and manage those issues in order to engage in education and achieve their potential.

About the role:
  • You would be in the one School ASAP, Full time.

  • Working with students who have challenging behaviours, attachment and trauma.

  • This is a setting where having a calm, nurturing and empathetic nature is key

  • Some experience within SEND / SEMH preferable not necessity

  • Passionate about supporting students and their social and emotional journey

  • Would accept ECT’s

What do I need?
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Flexibility, enthusiasm and motivation to deliver great lessons

  • Understanding of SEMH and Autism

  • Understanding of Secondary Curriculum

  • Behaviour management skills

  • An ability to adhere to and implement schools’ various policies
