Temporary Facilities Manager - South Mimms (ASAP Start, 3-6 Months)

My client, based in South Mimms, is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager for a temporary contract lasting 3-6 months, starting immediately. This role covers a large site with approximately 300 staff and requires expertise in facilities management within a lab-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Facilities Services for the site, ensuring buildings, facilities, and grounds remain safe and fully operational 24/7 to support science, research, and innovation activities.
  • Manage planned preventative maintenance for specialist plant and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults on specialist plant and equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Contract management of key service providers, including maintenance for lifts, catering equipment, fire alarms, and more. This includes overseeing contractors and engineers.
  • Lead and manage projects, including capital investments, efficiency improvements, and technical infrastructure upgrades.
  • Provide technical support for infrastructure and other projects as required.
  • Support Boiler Cover operations, maintaining BOAS competency and assisting the Mechanical Team in emergencies or planned cover, including on-call duties.
  • Manage a team of four Facilities staff, handling all formal management responsibilities.
  • Advise and guide agency staff and contractors at all levels regarding facilities management and compliance.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong experience in Facilities Management, ideally in a lab-based environment.
  • Knowledge of specialist plant and equipment maintenance.
  • Proven experience in contract management and project leadership.
  • BOAS certification (or willingness to maintain competency).
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills.
