Description
The key responsibilities of the Cost Accountant include:
- Tracking and analysing production costs, including materials, labour, and overheads.
- Assisting in preparing cost budgets and financial forecasts.
- Comparing actual costs to budgeted costs and investigating discrepancies.
- Assessing stock levels and ensuring accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Calculating the cost of manufacturing products to determine pricing and profitability.
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving operational efficiency.
- Preparing cost reports for management to support decision-making.
- Ensuring adherence to cost accounting standards and financial regulations.
Profile
The sucessful Cost Accountant will have:
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication skills, linking products to cost saving
- Suitably qualified by experience
- Strong knowledge of cost control, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of stock valuation, standard costing, and financial reporting.
- Ability to interpret and present financial data to management.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
