Job Advert: Legal Cashier

Reed Accountancy have recently partnered up with a legal firm based on the Wirral who are looking for a legal cashier to join their team. This firm is currently going through some improvement in that team and the right candidate will eventually move on to become the number 2 in the accounts team. 

Purpose of the Role: The successful candidate will assist with the daily Legal Cashiering workload, working towards acquiring detailed knowledge and application of Solicitors Regulation Authority Accounting Regulations, full working knowledge of AML legislation, and the capability to fully support and mirror the Senior Financial Controller role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing transactions, including money received by the organisation and payments out, through various financial mechanisms.
  • Preparing client receipts and electronic payments.
  • Checking and posting high-value conveyancing completion packs.
  • Maintaining the Petty Cash box.
  • Posting and reconciling credit card transactions.
  • Assisting with write-offs, disbursements, and credit note requests.
  • Processing supplier invoices, payments, and expense claims.
  • Identifying and reporting any suspected account breaches or unauthorised activities to the Accounts Manager.
  • Posting nominal invoices onto Liberate Purchase Ledger and generating monthly lists to pay suppliers.
  • Demonstrating proficiency with legal accounting software.
  • Understanding solicitors' accounts rules, AML regulations, and banking processes.
  • Maintaining client and office accounts.
  • Knowledge of Legal Aid billing and submissions is an advantage.
  • Exhibiting key critical attention to detail.
  • Showing ambition and a desire for continual learning and development.
  • Demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Upholding honesty and integrity.
  • Working effectively as part of a team.
